This is one of my favorite spots to go.  There is so much to do, it's open year round, and IT'S FREE!  I'll start with a few things that can pose difficulties for some.  First, everything is outside, so if it is cold, raining, snowing, etc. it is not very enjoyable.  Second, the playground at the top of the hill is really cool, but the main climber is VERY high and many of the parts of it are meant for older children (I'd say 6 and up).  My two year old had a hard time getting around the climber because things were too high to reach or spaced to far apart for her little legs to get too.  I witnessed many parents having to go up on to the climber to help children get down.  There is a smaller climber in the main playground, but it certainly doesn't have the allure of the big climber!  There is also another small playground by the animals geared toward the under 3 crowd.  Also, the playground gets very busy on school vacation weeks and during nice summer days.  If you have kiddos under 5 I'd suggest going as early as possible.  This park has:
  • Animals - At one end of the park there is a small area of caged farm animals.  There is a dispenser where you can get feed from if you bring quarters.  Most people bring their own bag of baby carrots to feed the animals.  There are deer, llamas, pigs, goats, sheep, a donkey, rabbits, pheasants, and a horse!  Across the "street", next to the parking area there are a few more cages with some additional animals (mainly bird species).  All animals are caged or in pens, you can not enter any of the cages/pens.
  • Walking Paths
  • Garden area with fountain
  • Giant Slide
  • Toddler Playground
  • Main Playground
  • Sand Area
  • Picnic Tables
